The oil-gas-water three-phase separator skid is one of the most widely used pieces of equipment in oilfield development and production. It is primarily designed to separate oil, gas, and water, evaluate the daily production rates of crude oil and associated natural gas from each well through advanced metering instruments, and facilitate convenient sampling and analysis of various components.
Working Principle
The oil-gas-water mixture enters the pre-degassing chamber at high velocity. Through cyclonic separation and gravity action, a large volume of associated gas is separated from the crude oil. The degassed oil-water mixture then flows at high speed through a diversion pipe into the distributor and the water-wash chamber, where it is washed and demulsified within an active water layer containing demulsifier. The flow is stabilized to reduce the Reynolds coefficient of the incoming fluid. After coalescing and flow conditioning, the mixture flows into the gravity settling chamber for further separation.
The degassed crude oil overflows the baffle into the oil chamber, where it is metered by a flowmeter, controlled, and then discharged from the separator. The water phase, driven by pressure balance, enters the water chamber through a conduit—thus achieving the objective of three-phase separation of oil, gas, and water.
